At the different activities there was two older kids from Tamaki Collage to keep track of our scores. There were two different teams: Team A and Team B. In those teams were four team colors. Yellow, blue, red and green. I was on Team B Blue. The teams wore the colors of their team to represent them will playing the activities. Our day started at 11:00. Our first activity was robe the nest. The four teams were put into the corners of the hall. In the corners would be a nest (hula hoop). Scattered on the floor was a bunch of tennis balls. Our goal was to see who can get the most tennis balls in their nest before the timer ends. If there was no tennis balls left your team mates could steel them from the other teams nest. In each team there was a tagger. If you got tagged you couldn't move until one of your teams mates unstuck you. The next activity we played was long jump. Each team would take turns getting a run up and seeing how far they can jump. You would put a cone wherever your team jumped the furthest. Then we went to the sponge relay. What we had to do was: a sack race to the sponge, then roll under a pole and jump over a line. When we got to the end we dunked the sponge into the bucket full of water. Then we raced back to our colored buckets to see who could retrieve the most water. After we played shot put. We had to do a proper shot put throw and see which team could get the furthest. To help us we put a cone wherever the ball bounced not rolled. Our next activity was throwing the hula hoop on the three different objects. We did this until the end of the rotation. In the end we wrote down who got the highest score. For our last activity we had the egg and spoon race. We had to: zig zag in between the cones, go over the chair and stand on one leg for 5 seconds. Then we had to race back to the line. All teams competed to see if they could finish faster than each other. We ended the day with some sausages and races.Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-13656017475228157182018-11-30T09:22:00.000+13:002018-11-30T09:22:19.836+13:00Art Tech<div>

For tech I have been taking art. Recently I have finished my art work. The first step was to draw your designs on a piece of paper. Once I finished I transferred them on to my wood block. Then I colored in the design. I also made sure to include white and yellow. After, I started carving out the white parts on my board. Then I painted yellow on to the board. I then put my board on top of a piece of paper to print out the design. Once I finished printing yellow I carved out all the parts with yellow. I repeated this step on three pieces of paper. I did this process for every color until I had my final design which you can see in the photo at the top.Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-7152986665207876272018-11-21T12:20:00.000+13:002018-11-21T12:23:52.582+13:00Read Theory Progress Chart<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This week is book week. Today we were put into groups and rotated to the different stations. We would answer questions or give our opinion. Once we finished going to all of the stations I chose a question to do a statistical analysis on. The question was: Why is the cover important?. I used a pie graph to show reasons why a cover is important. I also used a bar graph to show how much people in our class voted for how important the cover is. </div>

Today we have been learning about World War 1. We had a couple of minutes to write down all the questions we had about the war. Once we finished my partners Lyric and Zane helped me to choose one of the questions to research about. Our question was: Why did the World war 1 end so suddenly?. We created a google drawing showing all of our knowledge about this question. We also added links to the websites we used.Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-81606303771628794662018-11-09T12:19:00.003+13:002018-11-09T12:29:03.486+13:00Armistice Day Commemoration <img height="363" src="https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/e/2PACX-1vS_CSfwUlotWrGx4DqScjtHD1wYnz3rjr4oo2LDFF8ZkoHR71YHEGA_W7mwGZ3VViUXZcIvg96c8IAF/pub?w=1149&h=655" width="640" /><br />

Today we had our own commemoration for Armistice Day. This day is celebrated to remember the end of world war 1 and the soldiers who fought for our country. The whole school and staff members sat outside to listen to the oaths. We all sat around a cross that had poppies buried inside it. We used poppies because they became the symbol for Armistice Day. Our principle also spoke on this day. Our vice principle read the Flanders field poem. The head students: Jeremiah and myself read the oath. He said it in Maori and I said it in English. We also had a representative from the New Zealand defense force speak to us. Afterwards we turned around to look at the flag while Reveille played. We had a minute of silence to reflect on everything. We turned back around and two people from each classroom placed their signed poppies on the fence. They put the poppies next to three olive trees. These trees represented the past, present and future. That signaled the end of the commemoration.</div>

Recently we have been learning about Armistice Day. On Friday we will be having a ceremony for this day at our school. Today my partner Zane and I made a collage of photos that showed the happiness and excitement of the families and the armies. This was to show how people felt when the war ended. This started in 1914 and ended in 1918. There was 135 countries who fought in this war. The treaty was signed in Compiegne, France. The German were also made to surrender all their military weaponry and pay 35$ Billion dollars for the damage. Over 16 million people died and 37 million people were wounded during the war. This is why people were so relieved when the fighting had stopped.Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-35085145857915317252018-10-30T13:52:00.000+13:002018-10-30T13:52:20.992+13:00Waiouru Museum Robbery<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Today for reading we were researching about a story. My partner San Kyaw and I worked together to find the different perspectives of the story. We choose to read about the Waiouru Museum robbery. This event happened in 2007. A man named James Joseph Kapa was caught stealing 96 military medals. These medals were gifted to the museum by the families who have lost loved ones in the war. We also wrote our opinion on the situation.</div>

Doing this will have a positive effect on New Zealand wildlife and the way people perceive the Tamaki area. Today Jordan (SWIS) and Miss Paige (KiwCan Leader) supervised us as we walked from our school to Point England Reserve. While we walked, we picked up rubbish to ensure that our area looks clean but to make it fun we said that the group that does not pick up the most rubbish will have to do what the winning team says. When we arrived at Pt England we collected six full bags of rubbish and recycling so it was hard to tell who won. When we got their we were given lunch and a drink. As Jeremiah and I are the head students of our school we were ask to comment on the event. After that, we finished the day playing games against the other schools. For inquiry we have been learning about structures. Recently, we have been working on making a bridge out of dried spaghetti. My partner Mataio and I worked with Julian and Lyric to create this bridge. We used rubber bands, tape and string to make it more stable. First we planned how much materials we will need and how long it needed to be. When we built the bridge we added more supports throughout the structure. We used bricks to test how strong our final product was. Our groups bridge was the strongest. It was able to hold 8 bricks.Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-57649895183797189232018-09-18T13:49:00.002+12:002018-09-18T13:49:47.155+12:00Duffy Assembly - T3 W9<div style="text-align: center;">

Today we had a Duffy assembly. Micheal Mulipola a famous illustrator came to talk to us about why reading is important. He told us a story about when he was a child. Michael loved to draw all throughout his life. When he was younger he always wanted to make comic strips. He also liked collecting superheros, but his favorite character was Green Lantern. Green Lantern stood out more than the other characters to Michael. He said that green lanterns powers where like his pencil. He made whatever he could think of come to life. Now he has become what he has always dreamed of. He is now a wrestler, a semi-professional gamer and a illustrator for comic strips.<br />

Today was our last session of HIIT. This is a research program held by AUT Research. This program is about getting puffed (Pau te hau). We have been doing exercises twice a week for 15 weeks. This session we did tap steps, push ups, star jumps and sit ups. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do the push ups because of my shoulder. Throughout the weeks of doing HIIT I have been leading the group with some of my classmates. HIIT has not only helped me to get puffed but I have also seen some physical changes in my fitness.Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-9814582334282389412018-09-12T12:16:00.000+12:002018-09-12T12:16:12.592+12:00Exponents<img height="480" src="https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/e/2PACX-1vRlRym7_LtB0sT9nfwlMRDp8L0Vga4jdPQCNF9bmaJ1Ssb6rexbBygxdjpduBZWpik_ANbNfp_gYS3b/pub?w=960&h=720" width="640" /><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;">Today for maths we were learning about exponents. Exponents stand for how many times the value is being multiplied. For example, 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 = 625. I found this activity easy because it was not difficult to understand the meaning. I completed a question sheet that had exponent problems. Afterwards I made a DLO using three questions from the work sheet. I explained what exponents meant and how to solve one of the problems.</span>Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-1792660008181321712018-09-07T13:47:00.000+12:002018-09-07T13:47:14.242+12:00Kiwi Certificate<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

A couple of weeks ago students from LS2 and LS1 partook in a Kiwi competition. This competition revolved around our capability of literacy and mathematics. Everyone who partook in the mathematics test would agree that it was difficult. I found this personally difficult because there were algebra questions which I haven't learnt about nor did I understand. Everyone who took part in the maths test received a participation certificate. For literacy I received excellence which was great. I found doing the literacy test quite simple but when it came down to the last couple of tests, I did not try my hardest and I gave up. I am still proud of my achievement and it was fun to take part in something that is something I enjoy doing.</div>

I enjoyed all of the sounds of the musical instruments as the sounds were melodic. We all traveled by bus to the town hall in Auckland City. Mid way through the performance they introduced an opera singer who sang a Spanish song from the musical, Carmen. He was not very loud as the opera singer's back faced us as he sang to the people on the ground floor. Their were many instruments, including the harp, the tuba, the viola, and the triangle. All the people were color coded by a certain color. The percussion instruments were played by a person in green, while the strings were red. the woodwinds were blue, and the brass were yellow. To top of an amazing trip, a group of students from Saint Kentigern's and Ngatapawae performed a dance with the backing of a song from the ballet Romeo and Juliet. I felt that the dance did not have any relations to the love story of Romeo and Juliet. I believe the dance could have been a bit softer to work well with the song.</span>Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-70070835954476798322018-09-04T14:53:00.001+12:002018-09-04T14:53:09.212+12:00VR Reasearch<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Today my inquiry group was having a fun learning experience with Virtual Reality (VR). People from the Augmented human lab at the Auckland University came to our school to do some research, because of this we got to have a try with Virtual Reality. For inquiry we have been learning about structures so the Virtual Reality was based around the first Panmure Bridge. After we did some test and interaction with the cardboard goggles and iPad interaction we had pizza. A huge thank you to Yvonne and her research team for making this happen.Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-60282128893021027682018-09-03T12:27:00.002+12:002018-09-03T12:27:48.612+12:00Colon Illustration<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

For writing we have been learning about sensory verbs and colons. First I was given a sheet with missing colons. My challenge was to fix each sentence by putting the colon in the right place. Once I finished I chose one of the sentences to make an illustration of. I also gave an explanation of why I put it there and what it is used for. Did you know that colons can be used as a hook in a piece of writing?</div>

For writing one of our activities was a test sheet about sensory verbs. I answered 11 questions. I had to click on one of the options that I thought was the right vocabulary for the sentence. I found this activity easy because I have done this before. Once I checked my answers the results came back all correct. </div>

Me and my partner Zane chose to do something from the Percy Jackson series. My book was called Percy Jack And The Last Olympian. Throughout the sessions I have been reading the book for the first 30 minutes. So far I'm on page 40 in chapter 3. From what I have read the book is about Percy making a decision that would save or destroy the world from Kronos. My favorite part is when they have a fight on the boat that's headed to the Harbour of New York. My prediction is that Percy is going to have to fulfill the prophecy and make a decision.Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5158974669910408306.post-56061222031973756762018-08-29T12:34:00.000+12:002018-08-29T12:34:15.728+12:00Cupcake Problem<img height="480" src="https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/e/2PACX-1vQscKEkpfAzOFlXzjQz4ImRerArbY7d2G8E_nHJR2HmcDVFWCTsAOQ_EHeOWyxLysFeVRnHZY17SPjr/pub?w=960&h=720" width="640" /><br />
This week for maths we have been learning how to tell 24 hour time. Once we answered some questions we parented up to solve the rich task problems. My partner was San Kyaw. There were three questions, once we finished finding the answer we choose one of the questions to do a DLO on. This question was a cupcake problem.Tiavahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12290097834893076383noreply@blogger.com1
