Email Etiquette

Video Link

Today for cyber smart we watched a video on how to make a proper email. After watching the video we made a DLO on how to make a proper email from the information we learned. I worked with Mataio and San Kyaw to create this email etiquette DLO. When making an email you always have to have the right grammar and get straight to the point. From this I learned the correct way to make a email.

Summer & Winter Solstice Animation

This is my animation that I have made with Sylis and Mataio. In this animation we had to explain what the summer and winter solstice is and how the seasons work. A new thing that I learnt while making this was that the summer solstice is the longest day in the year and the winter solstice is the shortest day in a year.

Chicken Pasta Salad

Today for food tech we mad chicken pasta salad. The first thing we did was slice up the onions and the meat. While we sliced up the food we let the pasta cook in the pot. You would know when the pasta is ready when it is soft. While we waited for the pasta to cook we put all the ingredients in a big bowl and start mixing. The ingredients were salami, corn, mayo, onions and chicken. Once the pasta was done cooking we drained all the water out and put the pasta in the big bowl. After we cleaned up the kitchen we made our bowls and enjoyed the chicken pasta salad.

Lohri

For this task I had to find out about different ways people celebrate winter solstice. I worked with Sylis and Mataio to make a DLO of a celebration we found interesting. We choose India. Did you know that India lights fires signaling the end of winter solstice?

Legend of the Seven Sisters

Today I started an inquiry and It was for Matariki.  We did this because Matariki started yesterday. My partner and I watched a video about Matariki and the Six Sisters. I worked with Sylis to make a DLO answering the question that we were asked. We referenced the websites we got the information and photo from.

Blackout Day

Today Panmure Bridge School had there blackout day. This was to celebrate the Lions vs All Blacks game. You could come to school wearing all black to go for the All Blacks or you could wear all red to go for the Lions. The first thing we did was go to assembly to get a lesson from the roots team. The roots team have shown us how they reuse our waste. For example they turn our plastic into dresses and our rubbish into benches and play houses. They have also shown us what they are doing with road barriers. They have taken road barriers that people have tried to throw away into water collectors for your garden. Next we had another assembly after lunch to watch videos of the All Blacks and the Lions. After, we sang Tutira Mai Nga Iwi and the kapa haka boys did the haka. Then the whole school went out onto the field to spell the All Blacks. When we were in position the drone will fly over and show what we spelt. The last thing the whole school did was pass the ball. We would all get into a circle and pass the ball round while we chant All Blacks. The drone recorded us as we chanted All Blacks and passed the ball. From this day I had a lot of fun and learnt new things.

Dance

Today for dance my partner Eric and I recorded our dance routine. Mrs Anderson helped us to record our performance so that we could see what we needed to work on. We thought we needed to work on the timing and synchronizing our movements. We both agreed that we needed to add more movements. From this dance session I learned that counting helps you to be more in sync and on time with the music.

Rubbish survey data

Rubbish survey data

This graph shows you the places people have seen the most rubbish. From this graph you can see that most people found rubbish on the field and the senior playground. This also tells you that behind room 8 and the hall have the least rubbish and the field has the most rubbish.

Group Opinion

In Inquiry Tiava, San Kyaw, Nazella and I made a group solution to solving a rubbish problem that happens at our school.  We divided the paper into 5 sections and wrote our opinions then in the middle where the box was we put it all together. But there was a twist to it we couldn't speak. This was quite hard because we didn't really know what to put in.  Instead we circled some ideas from each opinion and numbered it off in order. This turned out really good and made a group solution or opinion.

Hard Materials - Final product

Food tech - 2/6/17

Today in food tech I made cinnamon cupcakes. I needed two measuring cups, 3 measuring bowls and the measuring spoons.

Geometry Dance

Today for dance my partner and I had partnered up with another pair, Affonso and San Kyaw. What we did was mash up all of our dance moves to create a finishing master piece. Once we practiced the dance routine we recorded it on a Ipad. We had to re-watch the video and see what we have to improve. I thought my partner and I had to be in sync with the song and be more robotic.

Milk carton cycle

Have you ever wonder what happens to the milk and where it goes? Well my partners Mia, Sanujan, Joshua and I have created a flow chart all about Fonterra milk. Fonterra donates milk to a lot of schools and when the kids finish drinking it dry and folding it flat they put it in the blue milk bin. The empty cartons are taken to the recycling plant and are made into very useful things like paper, school books and boats.

Shopping Spree - Maths Problem

Today for maths my partner Fraidon and I had to solve a shopping spree problem. We used our prior knowledge of fractions and decimals to solve the problem. Once we finished we created a problem of our own and shared it with another pare to see if they could work it out.

Maui and Fire Haiku

For Poetry we have been learning about Maui and how he created fire. I have worked with Sylis to complete 5 Haiku poems. A Haiku poem is a three line poem with 17 syllables, that is 5 syllables for the first line, 7 syllables for the second line and 5 for the last sentence. We put the haiku poems in order of the story.

Softball

Softball was our first inter school sport for this year. We trained hard and learned how to hit and throw the ball. We were all split into four groups depending on our age group. The first team we competed with was Glenn Innes. We won three to zero. From playing this sport I learned that in softball you always have to throw the ball under arm.

Ocean rubbish

Ocean rubbish

This statistic shows you the percentages of how much rubbish is being thrown into the ocean. The pink is the biggest category and the purple is the second largest category. These amounts of rubbish is causing a huge problem for the marine animals and the water. Some people do not think about their actions or just don't care. This does not only cause problems for the marine animals but it also causes problems for people. It is polluting our drinking water and makes it harder to clean.
