Winter Learning Journey - 2016 Rio Olympics

In this activity I had to visit the site for the 2016 Rio Olympics. I had to chose a sport or a sport I haven't heard of before and write the name of the sport, the aim and two rules from the sport.

This sport is called Water Polo it is a team water sport. There are two teams that have six field players and one goalie. The two teams have to attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into their opponent's goal. The team with the most goals at the end wins the match. In this sport the six field players can only use one hand to hold the ball. The goalie can only hold the ball with two hands when he or she is within five meters of their goal.

  1. Hi Tiava,

Great choice of sport! I love water polo, although, I have very little experience playing it! I did take a class when I was in university to learn the basics of the sport. It is very fast paced and very physically demanding! It is also very aggressive and some athletes actually have to wear two sets of togs for a game because one of them gets ripped off by an opponent during the game. Yikes!

Keep up the great work, Tiava. You still have 6 more days to participate in the Winter Learning Journey. There is plenty of time to try some of the other fun activities and earn lots of points :)

    Cheers!

  2. Hi Tiava

You have selected a great sport to talk about. I also picked that sport to. Your explanation of the sport is great I also liked how you added an image so people get a clear idea of what it will look like to play the actual sport.

    Great Work

    1. Hi Mia and Tiava,

It is pretty cool that you both chose the same sport, isn't it? Clearly, great minds think alike :)

      Cheers, Rachel
