Reading - Inference

Today's session for Reading my group was working with Mrs Anderson. Today's group leader was Zane. First we learned about what inference is and how you could do it. Once my whole group understood the meaning of inference we worked together to write our own definition. Afterwards we looked at pictures of people and were they sleep. Then we created a google drawing to do a comparison between were we sleep.

Career Quest

Today for Inquiry our focus is careers. We used a website called Careers Quest to find jobs that we would enjoy doing. I answered 78 questions about my interests in a job. For example: Are you interested in working outdoors? My results gave me 100 jobs that fit my interest. I found a partner that had the same job that was requested for me. We worked together to research about the job. In the end we had a challenge to see who would make the most money with their job.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) - Term 3 Week 1

This week Thursday was our second session of the new term. The three exercises we did were Star Jumps, Tap Step and High Knee Sprint. We did each exercise for three rounds. We did them for thirty seconds and had a 30 second break in between. The reason we do the High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is to get puffed (Pau te hau). At the start my goal was to get my heart rate into the red and above 100. Now, I have exceeded my expectations and got further then just 100. I was very proud of myself for leading the group with Mataio through the exercises.

ASB Get Wise

Today Jayden has came to talk to us about how to save our money and how it will benefit us in the future. To help us understand Jayden created a scenario where our groups went on a holiday in Fiji. Our budget was only $1,800 and we had to consider: passport, flights, accommodation, insurance, food, shopping, and activities. There was a range of choices with different prices. This taught us how to create a budget plan that will help us save up for something nice such as new shoes. Their motto is save some, spend some, and share some.

M&M's Maths Learning

Today for maths we were learning about M&M's. The first activity we did was estimating how much M&M's would be in the packet and which color would there be of the most. After that we opened it and tested our estimation. Some of the people in my group were right and some people were wrong. Once we gathered our information we put into this DLO. In this presentation is the history, facts, founder and graph comparison of the M&M's.

HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training

This week's session was about strength. After we put on our heart rate monitors we did a stretch to open up our muscles. In learning space 2 I have learned that it is important to stretch before doing any physical activity to help the muscles lose. We got into the groups we were in for the last session. There were 6 people in each group. First we had a timer for 40 seconds put on to tell us when to switch. My partner Fraidon and I started on squats then went to push ups and stopped at pull ups. We did this rotation with 4 other people 3 times. It was very exhausting!

Kiwi Sport Reflection

For Kiwi sport this week we played a game called Rush Tag which is similar to bull rush but instead you have to try and take the rippas from the opponents. After this we finished of with a game of Rippa Rugby. For this game we were splited into 3 teams. Our goal for attacking is to pass the ball to someone that can find a space to run and our goal for defending was to spread out, make not gaps for the attacking team, and run towards the attacking team as a line. At the end we were really fatigued but had a really enjoyable time with Hamish .
