Cupcake Problem
This week for maths we have been learning how to tell 24 hour time. Once we answered some questions we parented up to solve the rich task problems. My partner was San Kyaw. There were three questions, once we finished finding the answer we choose one of the questions to do a DLO on. This question was a cupcake problem.
How To Tell Analogue Time
How To Tell Analogue Time
There are a variety of ways that can help you to tell the time, one of the most common ways is using a clock,
watch or a device. These are called analogue clocks. They use numbers and hands to show you the current
time. Some use numeral numbers and some don’t have numbers on them at all. When you break down the
process it becomes really simple.
watch or a device. These are called analogue clocks. They use numbers and hands to show you the current
time. Some use numeral numbers and some don’t have numbers on them at all. When you break down the
process it becomes really simple.
On the clock there are three hands. The hour hand, the minute hand and the second hand. The short hand
shows you what hour it is. The short hand slowly moves towards the next hour, and during that process it
will look like the hand isn’t on a number. For example, if the hand is in between 7 and 8 it is still seven because
the hand hasn’t reached the eight yet. The hour hand will change when the long hand goes to 12.
The long hand is to show what minute it is. When the second hand has reached twelve the minute hand moves
forward by one. For example, if the time is 8:09 and the seconds hand hits twelve the minute hand will move
forward by one making it 8:10. You could also say ten past eight.

When someone is telling you what the time is they could say words like “half past three” or
“it’s a quarter to two” and I know it can sound confusing. In 1 whole hour there is 60 minutes.
So when people say a quarter they mean 15 minutes. This is where knowing your mathematics comes in handy.

By breaking down the process it can be really easy to learn how to tell time on a clock, watch or device.
Telling time is actually a really important asset in life, because it could also be used for being on time to get the
most out of your learning.

During our writing sessions we have been writing an explanation about how to tell analogue time. In my introduction I included a list to hook in my reader. Then in my conclusion I said something similar and gave them something to think about. In each paragraph I made sure to give an idea then elaborate and then give an example. At the end of each paragraph I made sure to write a sentence that would link it to the next paragraph. This helps to make my writing more interesting.

Scale Drawing 2018
This week is maths week. Throughout the week we have been working on our scale drawings. This is my second time doing this. Last time I drew Kevin Hearts character in the movie "The Secret Life of Pets", a rabbit called Snowball. The first step was to find an image that you would want to draw. I found it hard trying to figure out what image I wanted to make an enlargement of. Finally, I decided on drawing Simba from Lion King. After my image was printed out I used a ruler to measure the border of the image and draw a grid. Each square was 1 cm. Then I multiplied it by 2 to get the enlargement. It was a 1:2 ratio. I drew my scale drawing by copying one square at a time. Once I finished I colored it in. Lastly, I cut out and glued on my name tag, the image and my finished drawing. Looking at my finished product I feel like I have done a much better job than last year.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) - Term 3 Week 4
This week for HIIT the workouts were push ups and star jumps. Our warm ups were to play a game with a partner called Whano Whano. We did each workout for 2 rounds, each round had 3 repetitions. Unfortunately, we didn't get everybody into red but everyone still worked very hard to do so.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) - Term 3 Week 2
Today was our third session of HIIT. The workouts we chose for this session was Mountain Climbers, Split squat karate kick, High knee sprint and star jump. We did these workouts 4 times for 20 second. I really enjoyed HIIT today because we all pushed our selves and as you can see in the image all our heart rates were on red. I would like to thank Mataio and Zane for helping lead the group. A special thank you to Mrs Anderson for cheering us on.
