How To Tell Analogue Time

How To Tell Analogue Time

There are a variety of ways that can help you to tell the time, one of the most common ways is using a clock,
watch or a device. These are called analogue clocks. They use numbers and hands to show you the current
time. Some use numeral numbers and some don’t have numbers on them at all. When you break down the
process it becomes really simple.

On the clock there are three hands. The hour hand, the minute hand and the second hand. The short hand
shows you what hour it is. The short hand slowly moves towards the next hour, and during that process it
will look like the hand isn’t on a number. For example, if the hand is in between 7 and 8 it is still seven because
the hand hasn’t reached the eight yet. The hour hand will change when the long hand goes to 12.

The long hand is to show what minute it is. When the second hand has reached twelve the minute hand moves
forward by one. For example, if the time is 8:09 and the seconds hand hits twelve the minute hand will move
forward by one making it 8:10. You could also say ten past eight.

When someone is telling you what the time is they could say words like “half past three” or
“it’s a quarter to two” and I know it can sound confusing. In 1 whole hour there is 60 minutes.
So when people say a quarter they mean 15 minutes. This is where knowing your mathematics comes in handy.

By breaking down the process it can be really easy to learn how to tell time on a clock, watch or device.
Telling time is actually a really important asset in life, because it could also be used for being on time to get the
most out of your learning.

During our writing sessions we have been writing an explanation about how to tell analogue time. In my introduction I included a list to hook in my reader. Then in my conclusion I said something similar and gave them something to think about. In each paragraph I made sure to give an idea then elaborate and then give an example. At the end of each paragraph I made sure to write a sentence that would link it to the next paragraph. This helps to make my writing more interesting.
