Week 1 - Day 4 - Activity 1

In this activity I researched waiata. A waiata is the name given to a traditional Maori song. I listened to a lot of waiata and I found them all interesting. The one that I really liked was Tutira Mai Nga Iwi. I liked it because it talks about unity and standing together.

  1. Hi Tiava,
Great post! I am a big fan of waiata songs as they quite often touch my heart . I like how waiata songs are soulful and can express so many emotions. Do you know that there are three types of waiata? waiata mōteatea (traditional chants, lullabies), waiata tangi (laments) and waiata aroha.
I want to compliment you for adding the video of the song as it made your post much more engaging.
    Keep up the good work!
    Kia Kaha,
    Patricia

  2. Hi Tiava,
That was a great video to watch as it had all of those people singing together and goes to show how close everyone is.

    Great job

  3. Hello Tiava
Well done on finishing this summer learning journey activity. The waiata that you picked is great. I like how it included so many different people in different places. This is the one we sang at assembly right? Keep up the good work Tiava.
