The last thing we did was make a 25 word summary using the 6 most important words that explains how the fire service helps our community.

Mussels Maths Problem

This week in maths we have been learning different ways to solve a equation. The strategy we used to solve the mussels problem was our time tables. These problems were asking you ? x ? = ?. I found this activity a little easy because I already knew my times tables.

Learning to Motivate Others

Next year the year 7's are going to take on the role of being a leader. In LS2 we are learning about how to show leadership. Today we had a learning conversation about the meaning of motivation. We then worked together to create a role play that shows what motivation looks like. Using Word Art I wrote down different words that describe leadership. I am looking forward for going for a school leader.

Exploring Characters

For novel study, Sylis, Nazella and I were working on exploring Captain Tombs and Tam Spratley from the book Rat Island. We read the book then we had to answer questions about the characters. We created two drawings, one on Captain Tombs and another one on Tam Spratley. We then explored the similarities and difference between to two characters using a venn diagram.

Art Tech

Today I finished my art. The first thing we did was divide the piece of paper into five different parts. Then we drew five different images in the boxes. After we had to replicate the same images onto a piece of cardboard. My five colors I used were green, blue, yellow, red and white. The first thing we carved out was the parts that were white. Then we printed yellow onto a piece of paper. After we carved out the parts that were colored yellow and printed the next color. This process continued until we got to our last color. This process was called Reduction Printmaking. I find the art session fun. I learned how to print different colors to create a work of art.

Police Visit

Today we got a visit from the police. They flew a rotor craft to Panmure Bridge School to show and explain to us the different parts of the helicopter. They also brought a German Shepard to the school to show us some of their training and discipline. From that session I learned that a helicopter has thermal vision to detect people. They use it to see find where people are and how much people there are. A German Shepard is very useful for finding lost people or following a trail to search for something. Their speed is used for catching criminals. In my opinion I think that German Shepard's are very interesting because of what they can do.

Animal Adaptation

This week we have been focusing on animal adaptation. For this activity I researched about an animal that starts with the first letter of my name. I chose to research about a Tasmanian devil. I chose to research about the Tasmanian devil because of its bizarre features. I learned that the Tasmanian devil has 45 teeth. I attributed the photo I used to give credit to the owner of it.

Explanation Text - How Children Learn at School

This week for writing we've been practicing how to write an explanation. We did our writing with a partner, my partner was San Kyaw. We used the 1 to 10 writing to write an explanation about how children learn at school. First we planned our writing on the back of our paper. Once we finished we had to include a Title, Introduction, Paragraph 1, 2 and 3 and a Conclusion.

This week we have been learning to use an app called Screencastify. This app helps you to record your screen or use your webcam to record your face. My partners Mataio, Zane and I had used Screencastify to show our learning. For this video we had taken an equation which we were focusing on. The strategy we used to solve this problem was division.

Today the rippa rugby and rugby teams went down to Dunkirk to play inter-school rugby. Both teams had practiced and trained very hard for the inter-school game. The first team we played was against Pt England. Unfortunately we lost 1-9. The second team we competed with was Glenn Taylor. They were very hard and we tried our best but we had lost 2-4. After, we played against Tamaki Primary. It was a good game but we lost 2-9. Our last game was against Glenn Brae. We tried hard but unfortunately we lost 5-10. Although we lost all our games we tried our best and had fun.
