Week 2 - Day 2 - Bonus Activity

In this activity I read about the flight across the Tasman from Australia to New Zealand. There were a four man crew aboard the Southern Cross airplane. There was man named T.H. McWilliams that was in charge of operating the radio. Unfortunately the radio stop working shortly after the airplane took off. The ice and rain was blocking the view of the pilot Kingsford Smith. Fortunately they made it across the Tasman and landed safely in Christchurch. After reading about it I to wrote a poem.
My Poem
The snow that covers my windshield has left me blinded
and the radio has stop working were thinking of solutions
so were are all open minded, my heart beat slowly rises
but the terror is now gone the long trip has ended
and were are all finally where we belong

  1. Mālō e lelei Tiava,
I like your poem, I can see that you manage to accomplish some rhymes in here. I specially liked the part that you rhyme " the terror has gone" with " we are all finally where we belong", good job!
However, this bonus activity is worth 10 points. In order for you to gain full points for this activity I need you to write a little bit more. You could perhaps write about your feelings when you reached land and saw your family. I can think of words such as 'relief', 'pleased', 'embrace', 'reunion'. Could you try to do that and let me know?
Breathe in and out and keep going!
I am looking forward to reading your posts!

  2. Hi Tiava,
I can see how you have incorporated the fact that they must have been terrified and then relieved once they landed the plane safely.

    Great job

  3. Hello Tiava
Well done on finishing this summer learning journey activity. Your poem is great. I like how you wrote about the radio being broken and you were being open minded about all solutions. Keep up the good work.
