Week 1 - Day 2 - Activity 1

In this activity I compared wharepuni to my home. A wharepuni is a house that people lived in the 1800's. I have provided an image to show you what a wharepuni looked like. I found two similarities and two differences between the wharepuni and my home.
Similarities
They both have doors and windows
They both have one story
Differences
The wharepuni has traditional designs and carvings
The wharepuni has traditional statues as support pillars

Great to see another awesome blog post! You have gone above and beyond adding in a photo. I’m curious, do you think a wharepuni would have had lights inside? Also, what do you think the carvings on the side of the wharepuni mean? They look beautiful but I’m not quite sure what they represent.

I love your use of the word ‘traditional’! Fantastic work!

Looking forward to reading more of your blog posts!

Great work. I really like the words you used in the blog post. For example provided and traditional. I also like the layout you have used in this blog post.

    Keep up the great work

  4. Hi Tiava,
I can see that you have some comparisons between your house and the traditional wharepuni, but I can see you have not made any comparisons between the materials used. What is your house made out of?

    Keep it up

  5. Hello Tiava
Well done on completing this summer learning journey activity. I wonder what the traditional designs on the Wharepuni mean. I also wonder why the roof goes down very low. Keep up the amazing work Tiava.
